Many opportunities exist for IUCr delegates to obtain support to assist them in participating in the IUCr 2014 Congress. This page will list them as the information becomes available.
POSTER PRIZES
Several poster prizes will be awarded at IUCr 2014. Instructions on how to submit your poster for consideration for one of these prizes will soon be available on this page.
If you would like to have your poster considered for an award, please review the description for the awards and complete the IUCr2014 Award Application form through your abstract submission portal. Use your existing credentials to edit the submission that has already been accepted.
In order to organize the judging panels, we would appreciate if you can complete the application form by August 1st.
- IUCr/International Tables Poster Prizes
The IUCr Executive Committee is pleased to continue the series of IUCr awards to be presented at IUCr Congresses. A prize will be awarded to the best poster from a graduate or undergraduate student in each of the following three categories: biological, chemical and physical crystallography, and will consist of a complimentary print volume of International Tables for Crystallography and a certificate.
- Rigaku Award: Rigaku Corporation is pleased to award one prize to the best poster from a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow describing applications of macromolecular small angle X-ray scattering. The award will consist of $200 cash price and a copy of Small Angle X-ray and Neutron Scattering from Solutions of Biological Macromolecules.
- RCSB PDB sponsors a prize to be awarded for the best student poster involving Macromolecular Crystallography. The winner will receive their choice of an educational book.

- MAC Award: The Mineralogical Association of Canada (MAC) will award a prize to the best poster by a student or postdoctoral fellow in the area of mineralogy. The winner will receive a copy of one of the following educational books: "Atlas of non-silicate minerals in thin section", "Pegmatites" or "Geology of Gem of Deposits".
- CCDC Awards: The Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC) will sponsor three poster prizes. The posters should report original research in the areas of chemical crystallography (including advances in instrumental, experimental or computational techniques), or applications of small-molecule crystallographic information (for example structural chemistry, molecular modelling, materials design, structural biology or chemical informatics). The awards will consist of a $500 cash price and are restricted to younger scientists (35 years of age or younger by January 1st 2014).
- Bernhard Rupp Awards: Professor Bernhard Rupp and Garland Sience Publishers award two prizes to the two best posters from a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow in the area of macromolecular crystallography. Prizes consist of a copy of his book entitled "Biomolecular Crystallography:principles, practice, and Application to Structural Biology" by Bernhard Rupp.
- The Oxford Cryosystems Low Temperature Prize is awarded to the best poster describing applications of or developments in low temperature crystallography. The winner will receive a certificate and a prize of five hundred pounds sterling donated by Oxford Cryosystems.
OTHER PRIZES
- IUCr Crystallography in Africa initiative
A limited number of full bursaries (to cover economy flight, accommodation and registration) are available for young professors (up to the age of 40), post-doctoral students and PhD students from Africa to enable them to attend the Montreal Congress. NOW CLOSED
- Crystallography in Everyday Life: A Photo Competition for the International Year of Crystallography 2014 in collaboration with Agilent Technologies Inc. Two top prizes of $1000 each. NOW CLOSED
- IUCr Travel Support Program for Students and Post-docs. Maximum Funding available: $1000 per applicant. NOW CLOSED
- The President's Fund is used to help senior scientists from developing countries to attend IUCr Congresses. The Deadline for application is March 5, 2014. NOW CLOSED
